Anyone have any ideas of upcoming fantasy movies like LoTR? I didn't see Troy and am still debating about Alexander.

Fri, November 12, 2004 - 9:21 PMTroy is total and utter rubbish. i suspect Alexander would be more of the same but i've not seen anything about it yet. -

Re: What next?
Fri, November 12, 2004 - 10:18 PMAlexandar got panned really badly. That looks to be a dud.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe looks to be fantastic next year.
And if the Warchowski's get off their butts and start working on King Conan, that would turn out to be cool. But between the nasty divorce and the sex change, that's not happening anytime soon. -

Re: What next?
Sat, November 13, 2004 - 7:48 AMThat and the warchowski's are really in bad with Hollywood. The last two Matrix films did not as well as they thought they would. Also entertain meant magazine put them on a list of directors whose star is fading. I know that this sounds very fickle, but being how hollywood is That comment probabbly decimated their careers. -

Re: What next?
Sat, November 13, 2004 - 12:15 PMi think they managed to prove beyond all doubt that the matrix was a total fluke. almost everything else related to that movie was simply bad.
if you want to see a good movie, check out the incredibles. best thing on the big screen in years, imo. -

Re: What next?
Sat, November 13, 2004 - 9:13 PMI think the Warchowskis are brilliant directors. Their writing could have been more inspired for the last 2 Matrix movies.
However, Bound is a brilliant movie.
What makes a great director is the ability to make a great movie out of so so actors. Somehow the Warchowskis got a believable performance out of Keanu. Can you imagine the Matrix with the original cast they wanted -- Will Smith as Neo and Val Kilmer as Morpheus?
And bad director makes bad movies from great actors -- George Lucas. -

Sat, November 13, 2004 - 9:19 PMI think the EarthSea miniseries that the Sci-Fi channel is doing in December looks really good. -

Mon, December 13, 2004 - 9:21 PMNot according to Ursula K. LeGuin. Check out her website for somewhat of a scathing rebuke on the subject.

Re: What next?
Tue, November 30, 2004 - 4:07 PMI'm not pinning my hopes on "The Lion..." since it's from the same producer behind the awful Jackie Chanized "Around the World in 80 days"...
I think that the future of cinematic fantasy lies in the Elric movie....an uncompromising, R-rated one (paging Sam Raimi....) -

Re: What next?
Thu, December 2, 2004 - 2:25 PMI think a decent Elric movie is something which is too cool for the world right now. It's not going to happen.
