I see a lot of people talking about the Dragonlance character Raistlin... Very very cool. I've been a Dragonlance fan for quite a while.. I haven't read a ton of the books -- still working on that. But I've got to say, my favorite series so far has been on the War of Souls... What a powerful trilogy! I couldn't put it down from the moment I picked it up... It was, simply, one of the coolest stories I've ever read...
I'm wondering, has anyone else read this trilogy, and if so, what did you think about it?

Re: Dragonlance - War of Souls..
Tue, September 13, 2005 - 11:14 AMI read it as was really disappointed. I guess I was not ready for Weis and Hickman to change the world so much. I followed the progression of the original trilogy then to the Twin's triliogy and the finally to Second Generation and followed by Dragons of Summer Flame. It just kept seeming that Weis and Hickman wanted to end the series but couldn't stop writing anyways. And with them ending magic and only having wild magic it really twisted their world. As a reader it felt like having a favorite type of toy all throughout childhood and then when I grow up some corporation tries to redo it totally wrong. Like the new strawberry-shortcake dolls or My Little Pony dolls. My favorite of the dragonlance was the Twins series. I could not put it down unless it was to reach for the next book. -

Re: Dragonlance - War of Souls..
Tue, September 13, 2005 - 4:25 PMReally? I really liked the series, but this is coming from a guy who hasn't read everything in the order he probably should've :p. My first Dragonlance books ever were a few books from the "Warriors" series (I think it was that one anyway.. It's the one that does the story of Sir Pirvan).
Soon my brother bought me the first book of the War of Souls for my birthday, and I went through that trilogy.. So really, besides the "Warriors" series (which is sort of around the age of the Cataclysm that destroyed Istar), I didn't have a whole lot of connection before the WoS. :) So I can see where you're coming from :)
