I think I like the magic best. No matter whether it is good or evil. I also like the fantastic beings: elves, dragons, unicorns and the like. I guess I still want to believe in them and fantasy novels do that for me.

i love that things we don't believe in live in them. that magick is real, that creatures still roam the lands and that hero is not an obsolete concept. to see souls tested for their mettle and what really lies in their hearts. i love having somewhere so removed from my world to play in and explore.

Magic definitely...with some good old fashioned G vs E (not necessarily swords, though)

I really like cleverness in writing. Not only in how the story progresses but how it gets told.
I like inventiveness - new ideas on old subjects. I like it when it's a system of magic and races that have not been discussed before. I also like it when the line between fantasy and reality is blurred. By that I mean that even the ones with special powers are still human. Even the strange creatures are the things we encounter here in reality in a more symbolic sense. We all face ogres and elves in our lives. We all feel empowered by something and we all feel endangered by other things. A good fantasy is based in reality!
