so I'm writing my own book

topic posted Thu, December 20, 2007 - 10:26 PM by  Adam
I have found it easier to start with a treatment of the whole story (basically, a written out, step by step plot). Then I wrote a very rough draft. I am now refining that draft into something someone could actually call a real story. I'm getting rid of the story problems that never get resolved, the loose ends, and most particularly the places that are either too slow or I catch myself telling more than I am showing.
The world is nothing like what any of you have seen in any one book, so if you'd like to know more, I'd be interested in letting you all into my little world.

Sounds like you are having fun getting things together. Opening the eyes as it were. I really enjoy science fiction and fantasy story reading and writing.

I for one would be interested in hearing more.

oh good! I get so excited about my ideas, but I need to remember that other people may also have ideas they think are pretty great compared to mine.
Anyway, so I've got these 4 new races. They are named (at this point) the Angoo, Kalangoo, Djain, and the Shee. They all have connections with mythological groups from around the world. The Angoo are similar to the Blessed Ancestors of the Egyptians, except they have animorphic lion bodies with wings like falcons. They possess the power of the sun and tend to be a highly structured, organized community.
The Kalangoo are like American Indian Pranksters. They are actually born looking very human, but through their adolescence they start forming various animal body parts. They fall under 7 groups: the panther, birds, deer, bear, buffalo, wolf, and hare. They look like parts of animal costumes have been permanently attached to their bodies. They control the power of earth and because they can grow crops in abundance they have plenty of free time to play.
There are only 8 Djian. They are like the Chinese Immortals or xian. They have full-body tattoos that occationally change. They are mysterious to say the least. They control tidal energy and can often either sense or manipulate time and space differently than your average human. They are very empathic.
Finally, there are the Shee as in the Celtic Sidhe. There are satyrs and banshees. They are often beautiful in appearance. They control the power of dark. They are logical and curious.
These races interact on a pangaean like continent. On the peninsula to the south we find the human-like Wanderers who are just finding their way into this world of strange peoples.
