Can anyone recommend good fantasy novels that have major sci-fi elements in it? Darkover and Pern are obvious examples. Any else?

Re: Spaceships and dragons
Mon, September 20, 2004 - 9:33 AMCan't say enough good stuff about Tad Williams' Otherland Series, beginning with City of Golden Light. These are nominally SF, but would appeal to a fantasy reader also, since most of the action takes place in virtual worlds that are sometimes quite fantastic. The sf is credible as far as it goes, but the Tadster's a fantasist at heart, and he never allows it to overwhelm the story, the characters, or the experience as a whole.
